Zambesia Botanica
Zambesia Botanica is a range of cosmetic products specially developed for people who may be prone to
dermatitis, urticaria, eczema, psoriasis or for people with sensitive skin.
Zambesia Botanica arose after a long search for some form of effective
skincare management, which culminated in our personally experiencing the
beneficial properties of the Kigelia Africana tree. Generations of
Africans have traditionally made preparations for consumption and
application from the roots, bark and fruit of this tree. H.E. Hobbs have
incorporated the tree fruit extract into a range of skincare products,
which are particularly soothing for dry skin and which have proved helpful
to a great many people.

About the
Kigelia Africana tree
The trees occur naturally across sub-Saharan
Africa. The bitter tasting fruit pods
provide our dark brown/black extract. They hang from the branches and
resemble sausages; hence these trees are also called “Sausage Trees”.
Mature fruit can grow to over 2 foot long and 10 kg in weight.
Most
indigenous wildlife eats the fruit. Hippos distribute the seeds along
riverbanks while on high ground, rhino are the carriers. Should you visit
the
Victoria Falls area on a safari holiday,
you may be invited to sample the fruit. Further upstream stands the famous
“Kazangula” sausage tree under which David Livingstone reputedly spent the
night before continuing on to “discover” the falls and on which he carved
his initials.

regular routine to of use in order to break the constant cycle often
associated with dry skin. Zambesia Botanica can help you break that
perpetual cycle.
Hints and tips:
Bathing
Temperature should be warm and not hot. Gently pat the
body dry with the towel. Zambesia Botanica creams are excellent for
use regularly after bathing.
Scalp
The goal is to moisturise and to help the scalp retain
its own oils. The application is friendly to the hair and, being water
soluble, disperses and readily rinses out. Applying is even easier to
scalp still slightly damp after washing. Flaking can be controlled and
hair condition improved. The shampoo is suitable for all hair types. Use
both the scalp application and shampoo together for maximum benefit.
Sun
Generally, exposure to sunshine can help problem skins.
Take care to spend only short periods in the sun, as even the slightest
over exposure can be extremely detrimental. Apply sun protection
frequently. Moisturise with Zambesia Botanica before and after
going outdoors. Europeans in southern
Africa use Kigelia products after
spending time outdoors as they find it helps to maintain their skin in
good condition.
Combination with other products
Zambesia Botanica may be used together with other products, even under
make up. Prescribed medication should not be discontinued without medical
advice.
Techniques
Stroking/rubbing the area with palm of hand rather than
your nails or pinching the skin between your fingers is kinder to the skin
and less abrasive.
