Aromatherapy massage
affects the skin, muscles, blood circulatory vessels, lymphatic
system nerves and some internal organs. It can assist in the
breakdown and elimination of toxins in the body tissues and skin,
and also improves the flow of oxygen and essential nutrients, via
the blood supply, to all areas of the body. Most importantly,
Aromatherapy has the ability to soothe and calm the individual,
which in turn, reduces physical and mental stress.
The Essential Oils which
are used in this massage are absorbed into the skin via the pores
and hair follicles and are carried to the parts of the body where
they are needed. The origins of the Essential Oils are all found in
nature; their base constituents are extracted from petals, leaves,
fruit rind, bark, seeds, grasses, flowers and herbs. Once treatment
is finished, the benefits of the Essential Oils can continue over a
period of several hours and, in some cases, a few days.
Everyone is treated with
the utmost confidentiality and every selection of Essential Oils is
personal to the individual.

Hopi Ear Candling
£30
(45mins)
Ear Candles have a purely
physical function. A light suction (chimney effect) and the movement
of the flame create a vibration of air in the ear candle, generating
a massage-like effect on the eardrum.
This induces a pleasant
feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears, forehead
and sinuses. It is soothing and helpful for earache, headache,
tinnitus, stress and nervousness.
The physical effect is
often a soothing pressure and pain receiving sensation in the
ear/head area.
This treatment may bring
about freer nasal breathing, thus improving the senses of smell,
taste and hearing.
Ear candling is a
wonderful relaxing therapy.

Based on traditional
Remedial / Swedish Massage Techniques, hot and cold stones are
utilised to massage the client. The stones may also be placed in
strategic positions on top of and beneath the body to create a
therapeutic effect; this benefits the area being "treated" and the
individual in general. (Crystals may also be incorporated, thus
creating a balancing effect). The stones further enhance other
therapies, especially sports massage and aromatherapy.

Reflexology
£35 (60mins)
Reflexology is a
compression massage of the reflex points of the feet and hands. Each
organ and body part is mapped on the soles and top of the feet and
on the palms and back of the hands. This style of treatment may
detect many disorders and congestions within the body and by aiding
blood circulation can relax tension in the nervous system.
Reflexology has a
harmonising effect on the body's energy levels by dispelling toxins
and stimulating the natural healing processes. The body can then
function with greater ease and help prevent conditions that have not
yet manifested themselves.

This massage will
physically move the body's muscle and soft tissue, using pressure
and stretching movements, cleansing the muscle of accumulated acids
and toxins. These movements also aid the relief of knotty, fibrous
tissue and loosen stiff joints. This allows the muscle to relax and
enables the blood and lymph to circulate around the body more
easily.
This deep, flowing type
of massage treats the individual as a whole, dealing with both the
physical and psychological.
By reducing stress and
anxiety, massage will bring about a sense of tranquillity and well
being.

For those who exercise
regularly, sports massage can be beneficial in increasing muscle
flexibility, so enhancing athletic performance and improving joint
range of movement.
Sports massage uses
various methods of manipulation of soft tissues which are found in
the skin, muscles, muscle fascia, tendons and ligaments. It is
designed to assist in the correction of problems and imbalances in
soft tissue which can be caused by the trauma of repetitious and
strenuous exercise.
This type of massage
helps to prevent 'pulls and tears' in muscle fibres and helps
facilitate recovery from injuries. Adhesions and scar tissue can
often be tender and these can be broken down and improved over a
number of treatments. Sports massage can also separate Fibrositis
and helps to re-align collagen fibres (scar tissue).
Sports massage is not
exclusively for the benefit of those who exercise regularly, it can
be beneficial to everyone.
