What is hypnosis? Hypnosis is defined as a state of mind, enhanced by (although not exclusively) mental and physical relaxation, in which our subconscious is able to communicate more freely with our conscious mind. Hypnosis is the tool part of hypnotherapy. It is often described as being a state of deep relaxation or an altered state of mind. This state of mind may be brought about by oneself (self-hypnosis) or by a trained professional (hypnotherapist) in order to encourage beneficial change (hypnotherapy). It is a way of accessing our inner potential to enhance our lives.
What is hypnotherapy/NLP? Hypnotherapy is distinctive from other talking therapies in that it attempts to talk directly to the individual’s subconscious mind, usually while the individual is in a state of relaxation, in order to encourage beneficial change. It is a form of counselling using psychological techniques together with the state of hypnosis. It is perfectly safe, usually a very pleasurable experience and remarkably successful. Hypnotherapy is NOT what you see on television on entertainment shows. NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is to do with how people think, feel and behave and the way this affects their experiences and perceptions. Using NLP techniques can help to reorganise some of these perceptions and change the way we think and behave about certain areas within our lives. It can be used successfully in combination with hypnotherapy to enable beneficial changes to take place.
What is transpersonal hypnotherapy? Transpersonal hypnotherapy works from a very spiritual aspect so it is a blending of eastern and western spiritual beliefs with conventional hypnotherapy and is suitable for everyone and all kinds of issues. It makes the assumption that we are already constantly in a hypnotic or trance state and that much of what goes on in our lives is not what we think it is and we are not what we think that we are. Confused? It's quite something to get your head around but actually it makes perfect sense. All of our communication both internally (within our minds) and externally (what we do and what we say) is what creates our so-called reality. Transpersonal hypnotherapy recognises that you are a pure spirit being in a physical body and that from the moment we are conceived in this world, our consciousness starts to absorb all the influences around us which form our egoic mind. However, we are still pure spiritual beings and it is our behaviour as a result of our ego that detracts from our spiritual side and so causes separation from the universal energy known as God or Light, for example. It is behaviour which causes the issues and problems and limits our experiences in this lifetime, as with other lifetimes. From the moment we are conceived, we are subjected to other people's ideas, morals and boundaries and how we process this information has an effect on our own values and behaviours.
Unfortunately, some of what we learn, or how we store the information can serve to restrict us from really enjoying our experiences in this world and transpersonal hypnosis aims to allow our minds to reach beyond the boundaries of our ego in order to enjoy our lives to the full. The intention of it, then, is to get beyond self limitations confined by ego and reach a sense of peace or just being. When the transpersonal aspect is blended with conventional hypnotherapy, the results can be extremely effective and higher energies are utilised to enhance the healing mechanism, wherever possible leading to a permanent change rather than a temporary one. Transpersonal Hypnotherapy utilises the same hypnosis techniques as conventional hypnosis, except it is coming from a slightly different perspective. Combine this with NLP and you have an immensely powerful therapeutic tool.

What is Past Life Regression? Past life regression is when a client is “regressed” (taken back) whilst in a deep state of relaxation, to one or more past lifetimes and where experiences can be accessed from one or more of those past lifetimes. The regression experience can be an actual state and therefore the client may actually experience what is going on, or it can be fragmentary so that only pieces of experiences are recalled. Successful past life regression states are when the client can both remember and experience but the extent of these does vary from client to client. Some have very vivid experiences and feel they are actually in their past life, others have a much more “distant” experience. At the end of the day, it is your experience and only you can decide how beneficial it was to you.
Why do I have to have hypnosis to experience a past life? Hypnosis is defined as a state of mind, enhanced by (although not exclusively) mental and physical relaxation, in which our subconscious is able to communicate more freely with our conscious mind. Hypnosis is the tool part of hypnotherapy. It is often described as being a state of deep relaxation or an altered state of mind. It is a way of accessing our inner potential to enhance our lives. By using hypnosis, we can guide your mind to relax to just the right level to be able to access these past life memories for your benefit.
Why is past life regression done by a hypnotherapist? Hypnotherapy is distinctive from other talking therapies in that it attempts to talk directly to the individual’s subconscious mind, usually while the individual is in a state of relaxation, in order to encourage beneficial change. It is a form of counselling using psychological techniques together with the state of hypnosis. It is perfectly safe, usually a very pleasurable experience and remarkably successful. Hypnotherapy is NOT what you see on television on entertainment shows. Hypnotherapy is important when you experience past life regression because if your subconscious brings up unresolved issues from a previous lifetime, or the mind decides to create a metaphorical experience for an event in your current lifetime, then there may be an emotional reaction which can occur or be released. The guidance of a professional hypnotherapist who is highly experienced and familiar with such reactions is both reassuring and comforting to the client and the hypnotherapist can guide you to bring about the most beneficial emotional clearing for you.
Do you have to believe in reincarnation to experience a past lifetime? The simple answer to that is no! The main aim of past life regression is to bring about a healing of the psyche. You may not be aware of an obvious need for healing but if you feel particularly drawn to having a past life regression it may be that your subconscious is guiding you to it in order to release something or to learn something that can benefit you in this lifetime. Not everyone believes in past life regression and, for many, it is a belief that the mind creates a metaphorical state in order to deal more easily with events that are happening in your current life. You must make your own mind up from your own experiences and decide for yourself. It is a very personal experience and a most fascinating one that can offer many insights into your current life situation and the behaviours of you and others around you.
What happens if I get stuck in a past lifetime? The simple answer to that is you won’t. You cannot get stuck in a previous life because it no longer exists and you are alive in this current life. What you access under hypnosis are memories and experiences but for the vast majority of people they are still very much aware that they are in this lifetime whilst they are accessing these and, as with all hypnotherapy, you are fully in control at all times. Whilst there can be no guarantee of accessing a past life, if you do experience one or more as most people do, then the hypnotherapist will guide you back at the appropriate time after any healing has taken place and you will feel fully in touch and back with the lifetime you are currently living once again.
What happens if I see myself as someone I don’t like – like a murderer or thief? What you need to remember is that for the vast majority of us, we have lived many lifetimes and as a result of these lifetimes we have probably made many mistakes and learned many lessons along the way. When you are regressing to previous lifetimes, you will also need to bear in mind that you are probably not regressing into such a civilised society that we live in today. Things used to be quite barbaric and laws were not applied in the same way as they are in today’s world. It is likely that somewhere along the line, you experienced something unpleasant in a lifetime but that lifetime has long gone and what is important are the lessons that you learned from it, not what you did. If your mind takes you back to such a lifetime, it may be that you are still holding on to some emotion that has not yet been released or that the lessons learned may apply to a current situation in your life, so there is always something positive that you can take from the experience.
What happens when I go for treatment? In each session you are completely in control at all times. You don’t have to fall asleep and you cannot be made to do anything against your will, your ethics, your morals or your beliefs. Sessions are focussed on achieving a deep state of relaxation, talking to the subconscious mind using direct/indirect suggestions and providing appropriate guidance. For most people, past life regression is both a fascinating and rewarding experience that can bring great enlightenment and guidance to their current lifetimes, and often can clear up situations in the current lifetime as a result of releasing an emotional blockages that have been carried from lifetime to lifetime.
Cost: £75 (90mins) EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique
What is EFT? EFT is a meridian energy therapy. Just like acupuncture it works directly on the meridian system in the body but instead of needles you stimulate the major meridian points by tapping on them or massaging them lightly. It is a true mind/body healing technique because it combines the physical effects of meridian treatments with the mental effects of focussing on the pain or problem at the same time. Everyone can benefit from EFT and once learned effectively it can be used on a regular basis as a self-help tool. It is fabulously effective and a much quicker way to clear emotional or negative blockages held within the energy field without the need sometimes to delve into the cause and without the need to go through a long hypnotherapy session. Therefore, you can often deal more rapidly and clear blockages within the energy field and often feel the results immediately.
The key to success in EFT is the questioning process by the practitioner who uses psychological and NLP (neuro linguistic programming) questioning techniques in order to identify a specific blockage to begin the treatment on. The practitioner will also monitor the process throughout in case of any further blockages or issues that arise and guide the client to a safe and successful outcome. Sometimes the reasons and causes for problems, anxieties and fears can be difficult to reach when you practice EFT on your own and it helps to have someone who is fully trained and experienced to guide the process.
Gary Craig, founder of the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) (developed out of the highly successful Thought Field Therapy (TFT) developed by Dr Roger Callahan) states that "The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system." A negative emotion can be caused by a distressing memory or thought process which then has a cause and effect relationship in the body's energy system (e.g. the meridian system) which in turn will then cause the negative emotion. The idea, therefore, is to clear this blockage and allow the free flow of energy once again.
EFT uses 14 major meridian points which are generally at the start or end of a major body meridian and through the combination of tapping on these points and saying out loud a specially constructed phrase that taps into the negative emotion or physical ailment, this blockage within the energy system can be removed.
I have experienced such huge success with my clients using EFT that it is fast becoming a quicker and preferred method of treatment as a first option. It cuts down overall treatment times and whilst there are still some areas in which I would recommend hypnotherapy as a first option, through the questioning process at the beginning of a treatment it can be established what is the best method of treatment for you. Everyone is treated as an individual with their own unique issues to themselves and therefore it is about finding what is right for you
Cost: £60 (90mins) Reflexology
What is Reflexology? Reflexology is the ancient art of foot massage which originated in the Far East thousands of years ago. It has increasingly become a popular form of complementary medicine and works on the theory that the human body comprises 10 zones and pressure points on the feet relate to the various organs of the body within designated zones. It is about boosting the body's own healing levels and promoting relaxation.
How can reflexology help you? The body has the ability to heal itself. Illness, stress, injury and disease can cause the body to become in a state of imbalance leading to energy pathways being blocked and preventing the body from functioning normally or effectively. Reflexology is used to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and therefore encourage self-healing.
Who benefits from reflexology? Reflexology treats the whole person and therefore most people will benefit from this treatment. It does not treat symptoms of disease and cannot claim to cure. The therapy can bring relief to a wide range of conditions, chronic or acute, and promotes a state of deep relaxation. It is safe, natural and an excellent way to assist in harmonising the body.
Treatment session Most clients find the sensation pleasant and soothing and not ticklish as many assume, although some clients may experience some small discomfort in areas but this generally shows an imbalance which can be explained in more detail following your treatment. If you have a specific condition to treat then ideally 1 or 2 sessions per week over 5 or 6 weeks is ideal to give your body a chance to really work on the issue. If you just want maintenance of good health, then fortnightly or three weekly treatments are ideal. Some people respond immediately and others take weeks, sometimes months. Some people just like to have reflexology to experience a deep sensation of relaxation, especially after a busy day or week. It is your choice.
Are there any after effects? Everything will be explained when you book a treatment. There are some after effects but they are only temporary and nothing to be concerned about. You may experience headaches, hot flushes or frequent trips to the toilet within a few hours of the treatment. This is merely an indication that your body is responding to treatment by eliminating toxins from your system and it is important that you drink plenty of water to flush them out. Not all clients get this, however, and many feel very uplifted and full of energy afterwards. Most clients will, however, benefit from a deep and satisfying night's sleep after a treatment.
Cost: £35 (60mins)
