Mother & Baby Bowen Treatments £31
What is Mother & Baby Bowen? A gentle form of body work in which very subtle moves are performed over the muscles and connective tissue. The Bowen moves are light, gentle and very precise. There is no forceful manipulation. A Bowen session initiates a cascade of beneficial changes that continue for several days. During the treatment both you and your baby will have Bowen moves performed on specific areas of the body.
Why both of us? The reasons to treat you both are: - During the birthing process, your body goes through lots of changes and sometimes is unable to get itself back into balance. Your baby may have had a difficult birth and some of the effects are still felt within their little body. Causing such conditions as colic, crying for unknown reasons, projectile vomiting (non-medical).
Can it help us? It can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic illness, depending on each individual's capacity to heal.
How many sessions? Results can be remarkable, even from the first session. Most people find that a small number of treatments are enough even for long-standing complaints.
How long is a session? The session will take 30 minutes, both of you will be treated at the same time. Where light clothing, or clothing that can be easily taken off.
Will we need GP permission? Only if either of you has a medical condition that needs medical approval. If your child is unwell and you have not seen your doctor, then I am unable to offer a treatment until you have seen a medical professional.
What is my background? I was a staff nurse in a hospital, until I started training in complementary therapies. I have not practiced as a nurse for 6 years. I am a fully qualified Bowen Practitioner with Bowtech, The Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia. I have taken extra training with Ricky Minnery (a midwife) on treating babies with Bowen. I have also trained with Robyn Wood, who specialises in rehab for stroke victims. I also teach within Adult Education, Massage and Indian Head massage both qualification courses. I also run Baby Massage workshops at the Light Awareness Centre in Westbourne.
