General Aftercare Advice
After your
treatment the skin may feel and look a little sore.
If you are
going on holiday, it is best to be waxed at least a week before you go.
Sweating may
cause the hair follicles to become infected (Folliculitus), so you are
advised to avoid the following:
-
Exposing
the skin to sunlight or sun beds for 48 hours
-
Having a
sauna or any heat treatment for 24 hours
-
Taking a
bath or shower for 24 hours
-
Doing any
exercise for 24 hours
-
Applying
any moisturisers or body lotions, other than those recommended by your
therapist for 24 hours
Hints &
Tips
It is always advisable
to arrive clean and showered before every treatment as you cannot shower
the waxed area for 24h after treatment.
If you have never had
waxing before it is advisable to have a patch test done first, to see if
there are any reactions with your skin type. We use Super Soft Wax
on all areas as this is suitable for most skin types.
Does waxing hurt?
It can be
painful on some areas, however this is minimised by working with you to be
comfortable at all times. Many clients say that it is not as bad as they
imagined it would be.
Do I have to be naked?
Underwear
can be left on however, the area/s being waxed need to be uncovered.
Should I shave down the hair?
Your waxing
may be more comfortable if the hair is shaved down but remember there MUST
be at least half an inch of hair for the waxing to be effective. To
guarantee this no shaving must be done within 3 weeks of your treatment.
Check with your therapist before shaving.
How can I avoid in-growing hairs?
Exfoliate
the skin thoroughly to remove dead skin cells. Moisturise the skin every
day. If the skin is supple new growth can break through more easily
reducing the risk of ingrowing hairs and infection.
What if I get aroused?
Don’t worry.
This does happen on the odd occasion and usually passes quite quickly –
your therapist will just ignore it and get on with the job.
Do you do Back Sack and Crack?
Most people
have heard of BS&C and have a giggle about it. We offer intimate back
waxing (bum) and work with you on the final “look”. Due to the nature of a
scrotum it’ an extremly sensitive area and quite painful to wax. We do not
want our clients to be exposed to this pain and hence decided not to offer
this treatment.
